First off, Kylamay is not my real name. It's my tag for my artwork, among other things.

I grew up in a small city in Minnesota. My mother was a professional artist and my brother has been offered a position at Disney, which he turned down. Both of my sisters draw. One has become very good with drawing her representation of the characters of the Twilight books. My household was always filled with art and I grew fond of drawing at a young age. I got an art award by the age of 8 for drawing my mother and myself as vampires. Strange way to start, but it was a start.

I never claimed to be great at drawing but always searched for new ways to better my drawing skills. I am probably best at realism, which few get to see. My work in digital art came much later. I started playing around on Photoshop shortly after starting college. It wasn't long after that when the Darkness Series began. 

The Darkness Series began as a simple drawing I called The Missing. The drawing was not only an experiment with mixed media, but it was also a reflection of something I noticed in my life. At the time I was inspired to draw it, I had noticed many of my friends disappearing. We've all gone through moments where we have lost contact with a friend for whatever reason. It came as a giant realization when I joined college; I began losing contact with a number of friends. Something in me decided to make a tribute to their loss and my feelings of losing them. The Missing was not the official first of the series; you could say it was more an inspiration. It led me to the idea of the series that people grew to love.The emotions and feelings may not be something I felt at the time, but things I made observations on. They purely rely on inspirations. I have had many dry spells. They are the bane of every artist! I hope I can be inspired to do many more. I'm always welcome to ideas.
